Thing is, my M18 with 920hrs runs like a beast....I just had to replace the front seal a couple of months ago but I had it out and milled the heads, new gaskets and both front and rear seals to include oil breather gaskets....
Cranks right up and purrs like a kitten...
But the day I would sell that CH would be the day I throw a rod in the M18!!!
I would take that Mag and run it till it drops....!

I hate to do that to an engine, I'd love to save this one but if it happens it happens. I'm actively keeping an eye out for a 2185 or similar for a repower. Love the tractor just need a better engine in it.

No I did not do a leak down test on it and smoking isn't horrid, though its worse than I'd like. Quick acceleration in throttle? Puff of smoke. Run hard off the governor? Puff of smoke. I've even seen a super slight hint of smoke idling after running hard for hours.
