I just went on Chevy's web site and built the 2014 equivalent of my dad's 1978 truck for fun. Basically it was a stripped-down work truck - the lowest priced options. It came out to $24,400. If garden tractors rose in price as fast a comparable model in price to my 1450 would be $12k. Ouch.

My dad bought a 108 brand new in 1974. IH had a promotion that if you bought the tractor they threw in the deck for $1. I always thought about that and wondered why they made this offer. I think they were clearing out the 1x8/9 series because the Quietline series was coming. He bought at the right time.

Another observation is the trade-in prices. Ouch. Your $2900 1650 got you $230 - $430 when you traded it in. Now I see why you guys hang on to these tractors so long.
