We brought a 154 into the shop a few years back that had the PTO clutch tore out. It was going to cost so much to fix it the guy wouldn't do it. It seems there were 2 different kits needed from Case-IH. Another weak point I seem to remember on 154's is the frame breaking where it hooked to the transmission. Does the one you are looking at have an IH deck or has it been replaced with a Woods deck? I've always preferred the 154 style to a regular Cub or Cub lo-boy for mowing. It seems they have more power. And correct me if I am wrong didn't the deck pull from somewhere besides the rear end making changing gears while mowing easier? I may be wrong as it has been close to 20 years since I have mowed with a 154.
