IMHO, if you don't have a rear PTO and don't want to spend the $$$ on one. You could do it like that. Benefit: the PTO would turn the "correct" direction.

I thought about the tiller gear box thing to make a cat 0 snowblower attachment. Here in SE PA, a blade is enough 90% of the time, but there is always that one storm where you need a blower, plus it would be handy to use to clear the end of the drive, mailbox etc. and just plain cool. I think it would spin the right way? I thought about it for a few min and confused myself! HaHa. Then I can leave the blade on the front since it will be used more. Gotta make the 3 pt lift independent first...
