You need to get a wire diagram and study it.
You are going from a coil ignition to a mag ignition....yes....no...?
On a coil harness you will have a power wire to the coil. On a mag harness you will have a ground wire to the mag with will shut the motor down. Two different harenesses and ignition switches.
Some will say that it's a simple one wire fix....adaption....well I wish it had been that simple for me.....
I rewired a mag harness to make a coil harness and all is well but the pto will only run with the lights on...I'm going to start over again when I have time.
For example...the kill/safety switch at the seat is designed to "GROUND" a mag motor.....well you are not grounding a coil motor, what you are doing is opening the hot circuit and killing power....
The switch is different and the wires in the plug are in different positions.
I made two mistakes with mine....one is I made up the harness on the bench and wrapped it up and then I was short on the starter wire....wouldn't reach the soleniod....unwrap and start again...... and the second was the deal with power to the pto switch that I now have to fix...
New switch, rewire and think it through..
The answer is...of the motor the wires from the regulator run to the hot side of the ignition switch to charge in the run position... the other wire is the ignition ground switch...
You'll need an ignition switch for say a 1811.
