Weeds?? I think the garden will reproduce all the weeds imaginable, so I do not worry.
Bad stuff?? My mulch was all storm downed chipped wood, not much to worry about.

The majority of what I hauled went on a 40X100 garden,
It has darkened my soil. I dislike tilling and plowing, I do not want to disturb the soil, but, I got a new to me tiller this year.
I had to play.
The dark area was tilled Saturday;
The new to me cultivator;
The belt never slipped!!
