Gotta watch out for correct holes for the starter generator and electric PTO if your tractor has electric PTO. Also if you go for a non CC engine doublecheck the crank snout for length and diameter...
...My engine was originally out of a John Deere before it was installed in the 1250 and it had been cobbled for the electric PTO. When installed on the 122, I had to cobble the S/G arm as the hole needed for it was not there, and I could not install a PTO as the crank was too long and hit the PTO button without a PTO even installed.
Also if you have a wide base pan, you may still be able to install the correct pan, depending on the individual casting.. do google search for Kohler oil pan modification and you may find the site that talks about it .. I don't have the link here..
