It looks as if your 682 is a CCC model. Your serial number tag is a Cub Cadet Corporation, Cleveland, Ohio identification. An IH built machine would be tagged International Harvester Company, Chicago, Illinois 60602. You have a nice looking 682. This is the IH designed tractor with the good Kohler engine.
You have a great story,and it is good to see that your daughter is interested in it. This tractor will last long enough for her to own it one day.

Thanks for the info and the compliment. I knew I read that red axle was cast and made by IH where black was aluminum and MTD made axles. I just wasnt sure if the tractor as a whole was considered one or the other.

Ha ha, I bet there have been odd things seen. But no, this was not one of those. It turned super short to the left, but had like a 40 ft radius to the right. It was almost a zero turn to the left in fact.
