B&S are typically cheap. The Vangaurds are ok, but not as good as a CH Kohler in my opinion.
Kawasaki, are ok till they break, then they break the bank to fix. Plus, don't seem to make enough power.
Honda..... they make 4 wheelers, motorcycles and cars. Oh sure, they make a good motor, but again..... PARTS.

This is all just my opinion. And you know what they say about those! I work on a lot of small engines, and I prefer Kohler or Kubota for my stuff. Just can't beat a Kohler when it comes to longevity and torque. Kubota, well, they build the best diesels, and their gas engines were pretty good too. Out of all the motors I look at whether they can be rebuilt. Fact is, not many can be anymore. Run it till it's done and throw it away. I really like the K series because they can be rebuilt. (I know they aren't big enough for a SGT.) Kubota's can be. Honestly it's really hard to rebuild the KT's, Mag's and the CH series. It can be done, but they are tricky. Ok, I'm done.....
