To seal or not?
I'm getting ready to replace the cork gasket between my hydro and tranny. 1st time I used a factory gasket. It seemed to have double sided clear tape on it that was old. It leaked. Second time I used some cork gasket material I had that was a little too thick and sealed it with silicone. It leaked. I now have some of the proper thickness quality cork gasket material and will cut my own. Should I seal it? With what? Normally over the years I have wiped a thin layer of #2 form-a-gasket on most gaskets as a sealer. It normally works pretty well. I don't use cork gaskets often except for fuel tanks. I've been told to install cork dry so it can swell like a wine cork. Opinions?
