i think you should have it belt driven with a clutch. in the winter you may have a hard time getting the engine running having the pump coupled right to the engine. moving 30* hydraulic oil puts quite a load on it. when i had my KW loader on my 1872 id have to let the engine warm up for at least 3-4 minutes before engaging the pump other wise it would stall. thats just my experience.
