The hydraulic control handles were factory placed on the R.H. side of the dash on all cub cadet models until the '82 series. If they are on the left in pics you have seen, either the picture has been flipped, or a PO changed it. As far as how tall they are, both the hydrostat control and hydraulic levers were only one style and height. Anything other, would have been modified.
