You need to wait until late summer early fall for the eggs to hatch for them to be actively eating your grass roots, then an insecticide is quite effective as they consume it and die.
But I think any non chemical approach is best, especially mechanical traps etc.

My biggest problem with grubs are the skunks that come in the fall. With 2 dogs it seemed one or both would get nailed. Those skunks just root up the lawn getting those grubs. So for 2 years now I've been taking care of the grubs & they go else where to feed.
