8 is rocket ship fast. I'm actually considering installing it on my ancient Athlon 64 system (what I'm using right now) to speed it up. I just detest the gesture controls and "start" menu. It took me 10 minutes to figure out how to shut it off properly. No way the person that laptop was going to was going to handle it!
It's hard to guess where that control might be due to the many various graphics drivers out there, but the simple option in 8, is to type "display" in the search field and see what pops up.
(edit: on the really outside chance that someone else wants to update their ancient 64-bit Athlon machine to 8, it will 99% work under Windows 8, but MS REMOVED support for that family of processor with 8.1.. Thanks MS)
