A mapp gas torch doesn't get any hotter than a propane. If you guys need to heat metal to the point of "red hot" you will have to get a mapp/propane/acetylene; oxygen combo torch. Mix any of those 3 gasses with oxygen and it is the same result. Propane and Mapp gas are just less volatile gasses and thus considered "safer".
