To trouble shoot the "no reverse" problem, visit the Tec Section of this forum. Locate the manual for your 1250, and familiarize yourself with the parts involved with the hydro control. From there, you can begin to make educated calculations of what the problem could be from. The more you know and learn about this 1250, the easier the techs here at OCC can help you. Something is not doing something, and you got to solve that problem. I bet the problem is something simple, since you have forward.
I would not flatter over ever getting that steering wheel removed. This has got to be the worst, most stubborn part to ever remove from these tractors.
You will get a much better response to any problem related garden tractor questions you might have when posted in the IH Cub Cadet section of the forum.
