So, not all that long ago, I bought a 1992 Cub Cadet (after a bad experience with a JD
). Little did I know at the time, this little unassuming machine was just the start. Since this little grass cutter, I've had a 127, 149, 1450, a couple cyclops', a 682, and many more. While all were special, this little guy holds a special place in my heart as the first Cub I ever owned. While under my ownership, this little guy cut grass at my old house without a single problem. She hauled quite a bit of mulch for me, as well. And during the time I had it, I never had a single problem with it. But then, I decided I needed something more for my growing household/property demands. So, with a heavy heart, I sold it to my best friend with the promise of "when you get rid of it, I get first dibs". Last night, I received that fateful message: "wanna buy this Cub back?" Needless to say, I gladly said yes.
So, this morning at roughly 9:00am, I took my truck and trailer to his place and for the grand lump sum of $40, I bought back my first Cub Cadet. She's a little dirty, and has the hydro lever broke (which is why he was selling it, didn't want to mess with fixing it. Apparently the neighbor kids broke it while riding it...with the brake on
). Anywho, we loaded it up and I took it home. Once off the trailer, I had to do it; I turned the key. A couple cranks later with a hint of choke and it came back to life after sitting outside in his yard half this summer without running.
So, I'm glad to have it back. I've already got it apart and the lever out (and on the way, hopefully, to a welder). I plan on putting it back together and using it for a cart, lawn sweeper, basic job machine around the house. For such a simple, unassuming machine, I'm glad to have my first Cub back under my roof. Before she goes back into service, she'll get a basic going over. I'll clean the carb up, new fuel line, flush the tank, oil change, the basics. Then I'm sure it'll give me many more years of loyal service. Enjoy the pics guys, I know I'm going to enjoy the work
