I'm not to informed on the corn grain harvest because I am the chopper tech for the local JD dealer. Chopper season is over for most ppl around here. There are a couple of guys that are still doing some earlage but it is getting to dry for that. I do know that most have started combining corn around here. Chopper season started out at around 70% moisture but dropped quickly do to an early hard freeze about a week after they started. The moisture droped quickly after the freeze. Most ppl switched to earlage in the last week or so of harvest and that was at about 40% or so. I tell you what when you cut earlage in 20% moisture and in high wind it doesn't look like any of it is even getting in the truck. I really should try to find time to take some pics of this stuff but I just never think of it at the time. I was in some corn this year that I had to stand on the back deck of a 7980 JD chopper to see over it. I do have to say that I love choppers just because they are some of the biggest Horse power users in ag industry.
