I have the old style remote. There is also a delay from when you release the button.
Thanks. I went to the HF store the other day with intentions of buying one. I saw on the box it had a brake on it.

I looked around a little and saw they had three different hoists. The 880 lb hoist was a $129 and I had a 20% off coupon so I got the hoist for $109. I have a barn loft I want to store some heavy parts in. The winch would have worked. The shortcoming being I would have to supply battery power anytime I wanted to use it. I guess that's the main reason I passed on the winch.

Yeah I know winches are not generally regarded as safe for lifting devices.
