Pretty sure it's the same size as the D600's and D640's. Extra bore and stroke.
Cub 123 hit the nail on the head. I'd call the guy and offer $500 like Jon said and try to snag it. Guys around me are snagging the motors out of the old front mount mowers and putting them in cubs. Mike Masheris from another forum has dropped a couple in 982's. He even turbo charged one. Went to an auction Mike was at. He was looking at one of the old front mount mowers with a Kubota (can't remember mower brand at this time). Anyway, it had something like 3000 hours on it and ran like a top. He didn't bat an eye at the hours.
Back on topic, I'd buy. Worse case scenario, if it doesn't work, you could easily sell it and make back your money and them some. Keep us posted.
