"Cheater" cams
Ok guy's, long time lurker first time poster. I have to say the knowledge in these pages is priceless and has saved me a lot of long hours and bloody knuckles! So to my question. I have access to a Lakota cheater cam and a Zack Kerber gov 3 cam. Any one here running these cams? This is going in a .030 over k301 with a 6.125 rod and the short piston. I'm leaning towards the Kerber but would like to know if it will be to much cam for a 3800 rpm motor. The class I'm running is basically a stock class with no cam restrictions and a 4000 rpm rule. I'm also wondering about a weighted front starter pulley, are the benefits there in the slower turning engines? Also while I have everyone's attention, opinions on the life expectancy of a forged crank with a heavy flywheel and starter pulley under 4000 rpm, or do I need to spend the extra money on billet? Thanks for any help that you guys can offer!
