Thanks guys, for the comments, and for posting the pics. Glad to see some interest. I’ll post a few more pics of some of my more interesting older ones.

Zippy, the garage and wall paint are 20 yrs old. Built in 1994. I used good exterior paint for the interior walls, in silver pearl – a light grey that doesn’t show the dirt much. I wipe the walls down once in a while, not very often. As you can see, the paint has held up well.

Yes, I have the Michigan bicentennial one too, and a couple of other states. Many states had special red/white/blue plates in ’76, or some form of a bicentennial plate. I like them.

Most of the very old ones are porcelain, and they command the largest prices. I think there were some old fiberboard style plates in some areas.

Old license plates have a similar appeal to me as old coins, by having a date & location. When I look at one, I always wonder where it has been, who has owned it, seen it, etc.
