We didn't use bearings or aluminum axle housings when we went to 30 mm axles on my Son's puller. Since I was the one that did the machining I felt the area where the bearing and seal went would have been too thin. Plans for my Son's puller is to move up to alcohol class in a few years.
Personally I think you don't need the 30 mm axles or diff for what you are planning to do. The only time you need the 30 mm axles is for an alcohol class pulling. Your 122 in stock form will handle any job around the house you can do. The 122 should have sleeve bearings in it.
I have a 100 that has a modified10 horse power engine and a stock trans-rear end. I haven't had a problem in 7 years and I not afraid to run the 100 hard.
It's your money......spend/waste it how every you want. I'm just trying to save you a few bucks.
