Default 1863 homemade throttle cable adjustment

The throttle cable was froze up and the housing was like an accordion so I took some bulk cable I had and made one. I tried to measure everything but the outside ended up a little longer than the old one relative to the inner. I had measured how much the outer cable went past the clamp for installation but that didn't work. What I did was put the throttle lever in the full throttle notch, pull the cable back against the stop and tighten the clamp. Is that right, wrong or to hacked up for anyone to care? It all works very smooth and my cheapo tach bounces between 3480 and 3540. It was a fun job except for dropping one of the throttle lever nuts down into the bowels of the tractor and having to find it.
