Last year I sold my zero turn because I wanted a tractor style riding mower. I wanted something that could do more than just mow.

I was looking on craigslist and found a Cub Cadet GT2186-48.


I talked to the guy for a few days and eventually went to look at it. It had been sitting all winter with ethanol gas in the carb (I have already ordered the carb kit). I checked the oil and it was full but it was black. The transmission fluid was nice and clear. The transmission fluid did not have a foul smell either. We tried to start it but the battery needed to be charged. After hooking it up to jumper cables with a few turns it fired up. It runs smooth and purs like a kitten. I drove it around the yard and the transmission pulled great even though the hydraulic fluid was cold (it was about 34 degrees). When I went to engage the PTO it cut off. I was thinking it was a ground off until he finally got the PTO to fully engage. The choke has to be pulled slightly out for the PTO to engage without shutting off the engine. This mower only has 206 hours. If I cleaned the mower up it could sit on a showroom floor. It's extremely nice.


I paid $1050 for the mower. Did I pay to much? I will try posting a picture. Is there anything I should worry about with this model? The steering is manual and so is the deck.


I love Cub Cadets. When I sold my Zero Turn at the end of last mowing season I knew 100% what kind of mower I wanted. I wanted 2000-3000 series Cub Cadet.
