Unless you have a big stack of money to burn...... I don't think you will find this feasible. Have you ever priced having a gear made? And you can't make them out of cast iron. Gears have to be made of steel.
Under edit: I see you run a CNC. Still.... have you ever made a gear?

Sickle mowers don't care which way you turn the input shaft. They work no matter what. No need to build anything but a driveshaft. You are really making this more complicated than it is.
