Took the steering column out today and found a few chunks out of the steering gear,I had a bad column from an 1810,so I cut off what I needed and made a new stubby shaft.Filed down two flat spots in it and drilled a hole.Rebuilt it and will install tomorrow.
I had a JD one that had bad threads, but it was hollow.They make the races for the bearing a little beefier.
