KT17 Carb Float Question
I have a 682 with the KT-17 Series II and I think the Walbro carb. It does not have the main adjustment screw, only the low speed one. Anyways, I went to fire it up this year and no start. Figured out it was not getting fuel so I pulled the carb off. When I took the bowl off, I found the bowl dry, float hanging down, with the needle stuck up in the seat. What I found odd is there is no "wire" attaching the float to the needle. Is this correct? Every carb I have took apart has had one. It only has gravity and fuel pressure to push it down. I looked at some microfiche's and I do not see a wire. Oh, and it has a plastic float, not brass if that makes any difference. I mowed for a few hours with it shutting it off a few times with no problems. Then I shut it off for 4 hrs and it was stuck again. Used air on the fuel line that time since I knew what it was. Just curious if I'm missing the wire or if I need to replace the needle & seat.
