It sound's higher pitch than a Rod not so deep of a rattle. I am thinking (hoping) a bit too, that the noise is coming from the front pulley, clutch assy.
I will take off the shroud on back and double check the fly wheel. I put in new keys, this thing was a bear to get apart. there was some scaring on the shafts they looked ok after I cleaned them up looked like something had spun a bit at one time.
I work on big refrigeration equipment air moving equipment , I listen to a lot of compressors running good and not so good. Rods seem to have a deeper sound, but the recording thing is a great Idea. I will do this soon..
