It's backward, I think. I used a diagnostic tach when I tuned up my 321, lowest scale was 4 cyl and I had to multiply the reading times four to get the right number. So when setting high rpm 34-3600 (I forget which) I was reading 850-900 rpm. Idle speed I didn't bother with, played it by ear, too hard to read. I have something similar to this, without the cyl number switch.
