Just wanted to follow up on this so others can see what happened, I checked my exhaust valve lift following the ACR adjustment instructions in the manual and found that my exhaust valve was lifting about 0.058", specs are 0.031-0.042". I adjusted it down to 0.031" and put the head back on and it started right up, made a few little timing/carb adjustments and it runs great now. This is the first time I have ever had to mess with the ACR, but will start checking the lift anytime I have a motor apart for repair.
