Default Broken Lift cylinder?

I have to assume this is why the 1914 doesn't have a whole lot of lift travel. It appears that the mounting hole on the cylinder has broken and completely elongated to the point that I can move the cylinder off of the mounting bolt by hand when there isn't pressure on the cylinder. By the looks of things, this has been broken for quite a while. Cub's website lists the cylinder at 275 bucks and the cylinder housing is NLA so a rebuild doesn't appear to be realistic. Anyone have any ideas to fix or modify this? The cylinder still works fine....Has anyone found a cheap replacement cylinder that works for this application if all else fails?
