When you pull back on the lever it should lift, when you push forward it should go down. If it doesn't work that way, the hoses are reversed. If it does, they are correct.
Get a hydraulic shop to make the hoses. I'd get the missing fittings too, but that's me. They work as they are, I just like a cleaner look.
