I would find another crank before I would weld that journal. Chances of warping the crank shaft would be my biggest concern and even if it didn't warp the machine shop cost to turn it back would be astronomical. It would be cheaper to find a good used crankshaft. Like I said in a previous post you can buy .020 under rods and be done with it.

Only thing bad with 20 under is once it's bad it's bad. You can't grind in down anymore. Or at least you shouldn't. While my method will make the crank last a lifetime of cared for.
