Default Coupling failure

Drove my 149 into the garage a couple weeks ago and parked it. Started it up today and after about a minute it started making a racket from the rear of the engine. Sounded like the grass screen rubbing on the housing times 10.

Pulled the tunnel cover and side panels off and started it again. The cooling fan on the driveshaft was rotating in a jerky movement and the sound was still there. Looked a little closer and the problem became obvious.

The 149 has about 20 hours on it since "restoration". New drive shaft, rag joint, coupling, spiral pins, fan and grade 8 bolts everywhere.

You can see in the photo where the coupling separated. Apparently the ring was a press fit on the hub. Don't know if that's correct or an inferior part. It either came from Partstree or one of the other major Cub suppliers; can't remember.
It will soon be welded back together.
