So I figure if 18 horses could pull it then a cub could pull it (having about the same amount of horsepower)

The psi on the ground for one 1000lb horse is way better than a 1000lb tractor with 18hp on eight wide tires.
Gonna just spin tires and go no where fast if your tires do not dig in and pull.
