Give the engine a good cleaning with all the metal shrouds removed. Take a look at all the seals and replace if signs of leakage. Look at the gas hose and probably replace. I have used a shop vac, brushes and things to scrape if any of the oil is cooked on. Post pictures of your dis-assembly findings.
