These rock shafts are a 'Kyles mom'
Dang, just got in from removing the rock shaft from two different frames. The first was pretty frozen, so I had been letting it soak for a week. The second came out with a BFH and LOTS of banging.
But the first one never did cooperate. I got it to where I could rotate the last piece (not sure what its called - it goes to the hydro lift and has a pin to lock it to the rest of the shaft but normally is supposed to spin freely on the shaft).
Some chips in the paint from the banging (kicking myself for not removing this prior to paint). Some good bruises on the back of my left hand (hey, my aim aint what it used to be and one of my spacers I was banging against came flying out and left a decent bruise).
Finally gave up and split it with the hacksaw, spread it with a chisel, and then it let go.
Im going to invest in a spreader figuring it could be useful in the future. And someday acetylene torch.
What a pain! (with the exception of a particular steering wheel that never did let go, this was the toughest job I have experienced so far...)
You want pics of the bruise, the chipped paint, the disassembled parts, or the whole thing back together (will have to wait a bit for that last one)?
