I'm mixed on Ebay. The rates have obviously gone much higher than before, but that comes from popularity and the monopoly they have on online auctions. I'm not completely against the rates because it's still cheaper than other places as CMA's129 mentioned. I used to sell all the time and probably sold 300 items or so between my old and new account. The no-negative feedback was great because of sellers extorting your feedback (had it done to me on bad items I recieved).
I have had problems though and now NEVER sell on there anymore. My buying has all but ceased as well. I bought a classic car on Ebay that was "solid and only needs spark to be ready to drive". I bought it for $2500 and it was completely rusted to the point that it was sagging and only held together by the doors being closed. It also had not run in 25 years and was basically a piece of junk with very selective pictures to hide the flaws. Contacted Ebay for months and they never did help me out claiming "rust is not covered". Be that as it may, I was blatantly lied to and cheated and out $2500.
Secondly I sold some CCO parts and the guy recieved them and said they were junk. Some of the stuff he was saying I knew was lying, but I said I'd refund them... just ship them back. He demanded a full refund AND the parts or he'd leave negative. My only negative ever.
Lastly I bought another item and it was never shipped. I talked to the seller and he wouldn't give me a shipping confirmation or anything. Ebay would not help despite my using paypal claiming it was a lost item. It wasn't lost... it was just never shipped and the buyer didn't even deny it.
Now that I vented, I think Ebay is decently priced. You just have to account for this when selling. It is a buyer's website now though. Their customer service on the other hand... S***. I'll get beat up on here for that opinion if I have to, but they've cost me a lot of money with their BS "buyer protection that covers nothing" policy. I've only had 4 bad experiences out of ???????, but that in my opinion is 4 too many.
