Trouble with 1872
Had a good start to the mowing expedition with the 1872. Everything worked fine until I stopped the mower to go across the gravel driveway to the other side. Went to start the PTO and nothing...
So drove back to the house and tried it again. It engaged, but I noticed the charge indicator went to discharge. Shut the PTO off and the charge indicator went to charge...
Well figured it worked so went back out and finished the mowing, but as I was I was also noticing the charge indicator was staying down on the discharge side, and occasionally would go up as far as center.
Shut the PTO off to come back home and again the indicator went up to charge. When I got it parked, shut it off and tried starting it, and it fired right up, so it wasn't a dead battery.
Any ideas? Field coil? But if it was the field coil, wouldn't it not engage until it cooled down? That's the way it was on my 782 when it went out.
I didn't check anything out as of yet, didn't have time today, but would appreciate any ideas of where to start looking tomorrow.
