Yeah it takes a lot of pressure to get it broke loose from the shaft and key. The puller I use is for trucks or heavy equipment bearings. Then I put a half inch inpact on it and it usually pops right off with a couple of strikes from a big hammer.
I got the seal numbers from MTD and ran them through NAPA and saved some on the price. Do not know about the Pony though.
