First, take a few photos from several angles of the carb linkage. You'd be surprised how fast you'll forget which control rod went where! This way you don't have to remember a thing.

You might not have to adjust anything on the float, the overfill problem could just be a worn out plunger/seal, which will be rectified when you put the kit on. No real trick to removing the carb, just undo the two screws and pay attention to what kind of gaskets and spacers are between the carb and engine.

Get a gallon of carb dip to soak it in, and get that sucker clean!
