well, to everyone who has helped along the way thank you. Long story short... if you buy one of those engine kits, and it comes with free points... don't use them.
a quick trip to NAPA and i could physically feel the difference in quality in my hand. I installed the new points and she runs on the top end like a champ. Even used her to pull my '78 F-150 project into the garage.
Its amazing how something so small has frustrated me for so long. She still need a little tuning, but thats just a couple turns here an there.
