I believe you can google up a wiring diagram of this machine.
The switch... I assume G is Ground, B is Battery, S is Starter (or solenoid), M is Magneto (or motor) and L is Lights. Three position switch...off, on and start. To kill the ASS-U-ME theory with a meter or test light, verify that : At off, only B is hot. At on, B, M and L should be hot. Continuity is established between B to M and B to L. S is Dead. At start position, B, M and S should be hot. Verify continuity between B and M, and B and S. L is dead.
