I think you will notice a big difference in the way your hydro operates when you put the new springs and pins in. It also looks like your trunion is worn. There are plenty of threads on this site that address that. I would replace the pins and fix the trunion, then adjust for neutral. If that doesn't work, you may have to adjust your linkage a little bit. It takes some time but it should fix your issue. Make sure you download the service manual or purchase one from Binder Books (link at the top of the page). It will help you thru the process.

If you are looking to get rid of a running 982, there should be plenty of takers!
