Thanks for all the replies and good advice . I am modifying my trailer this winter. It is a 10' single axle trail with no brakes. I haul a subcompact tractor ( a different color of red)an tiller or plow a lot of miles in the spring and fall . I added 8" to the back of the trailer 2 years ago to be able to shut the tailgate . The trailer needs tires ,so I will be adding two foot and another axle this winter . I have had a few close calls on getting things stopped so I will be adding brakes mostly for safety. My S-10 is a ZR2 they are suppose to be a little heavier built than a regular s-10. So when I get done I will have a 12' tandem axle trailer built the way I want it with all the LED lights , that everything fits on .With brakes .
I do have a 2012 1/2ton Silverado and a 18' car trailer for the big jobs . I am a little pickey about driving it on country gravel roads ( it drives my wife nuts that I won't drive it on gravel) . I will be sure to get the trailers hooked up so I can pull both trailers with both trucks . So the tekonsha brake control seems to be the most recommended ,I'll look for one of those Thanks Bruce S.
