Overall the PTO engages quickly and seems to have good power (not slipping) and as soon as I shut the switch off the snowblower stops immediately!

As it should, the brake is working.
if it won't engage when hot, tighten the gap to .010
don't throw the other pto away, good for parts.
Always good idea to engage @ lower rpm's
