If you do not have a pressure gauge yet, you can try slightly loosening the pressure hose coming from the pump, to the spool valve that actuates the loader (hand control).
You should get a big pressure leak, much like a loose garden water hose on an outside faucet, with the engine running.

Place a clean catch pail under it to save your fluid, and be careful.
Loosen the hose first, then start the tractor and observe to see if you have a pressure leak, if so, shut it off.
That should @ least tell you,that you have a working pump, going the right direction.
