I just removed the very first brass button I made off my 125. I was changing from the 42" mower deck to the QA-42 and broke off two of the fiber buttons.
Out of frustration I turned the end of a brass punch into a PTO button.
Here it is, it still has half of it's original thickness after 5 years and probably could have lasted a few more seasons. This is on the 125 that mows every week in grass season and did three snow duty seasons too.
I'd say it worked quite well
