Default Tough day on the lawn

Was mowing with the 2284. Hydro started getting squirrely. Then I lost reverse. And forward was pretty much wide open. Pulled the tunnel cover hoping somehow the cam bracket was out of adjustment. The only thing in the trunion space was the large spring.... sideways.

So I surgically removed the the new small spring and both end pin guides from 2182 I have been rehabing. They were vicious to get out. Had to have the wife to help. It was tough going. Many explicated were shouted to the heavens. Seems the plate damper is worn pretty bad on the 2284 where it rides the hydro pump shaft. It shifted and let it all come unglued. After almost 2 hours I was running again. To keep it together I had to devise a washer/spacer set up to keep the damper plate in place. I wound a length of baling wire between the plates. Hey, it got me running. While I was mowing I was making an immense parts list in my mind for what the rear end needs. I guess I'll have to pull the rear end to get new damper plate, new springs.& pin guides, and maybe cam control plate. Hopefully the Hydro pump shaft is OK.

Not the best start to the mowing season.
